Do you have a favorite prayer?
I wanted to share favorite prayers today…
Here’s one of mine…
The Prayer of St. Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.
To me, the Prayer of St. Francis is one of hope, peace and love… and how a life of Being Great gets really exciting when we can see the light and receive God’s blessings!
Please share whatever your favorite prayer is, and why it’s your favorite 🙂
Yes, that’s a good one, Chris.
My favorite lately is one I made up: Lord, turn my fear into excited expectation for what you have planned.
I like that one Carol. Mine sort of come and go but whenever I run across the Prayer of St. Francis my spirit is warmed.
I’m behind on this month’s blog chain so I will comment on this newer post. This too has been one of my favorite prayers, especially the lines “grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood, as to understand.”
In my post to the blog chain tomorrow I include one of my favorite songs. So it’s a good month to share our favorites!
Thanks Chris, will be checking your post out… 🙂
