Continually Seeking Wisdom…
“My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding,
and if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom,
and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He holds victory in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones.
Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair – every good path.
For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
Discretion will protect you,
and understanding will guard you.”
Proverbs 2: 1-11
It’s said that a wise person is sincere and direct with others… do you find it easy to express yourself in this way?
I wouldn’t say that it’s always easy. But there is value in being direct with people – not beating around the bushes. I know appreciate not having to guess what a person is really tring to say.
The real key in my mind is the sincerity portion. People aren’t going to listen to anything you have to say if they’re questioning your motives, or afraid you are playing games.
Excellent scripture resource.
Thanks David, I’ve always asked people to just be open, honest and sincere… that’s being real to me 🙂
I really like this passage. Thank you for sharing.
This one is like soul food to me for sure Dan, I’m glad you like it too. Thanks !!
Not always easy to do, but it sure beats lying.
I would rather have one good friend than a million who lie to me!
Oh man, so true TC. A true friend will tell you the truth even when it’s going to hurt a little bit. Thanks for sharing!
You wrote a mouthful, Chris. Like savoring a nice tasty steak. Those are some of my favorite passages. Great job.
Thank you Deborah, if I remember correctly I think you may have helped inspire this verse to me actually!
pursuit of wisdom
wise words indeed
Thank you JB!!
It’s become easier to be direct and sincere with people; but harder now to keep quiet when honesty isn’t best. Or wanted. For me, it’s a struggle to have wisdom in knowing whether to be direct or silent.
This was a wonderful take on pursuit.
Yea, good point Carol, thank you!!
