Humility… the quality or virtue of being modest and respectful.
Been thinking a lot about this one…
how to stay humble…
and came up with the following 3 Keys To Being Humble:
- I need to think of myself only in comparison to Jesus… and continually strive to be more and more like Him.
- I need to focus on serving others, seeing the good in everyone else and showing respect for others, regardless of how I am treated (again, Jesus is the model here). Serving others… that’s Being Great!
- I have to remember to measure my value and self-worth in accordance with the skills and gifts that He gave me… which are unique to me… and just try to be me.
“For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” Luke 14:11

This is a really great post, Chris. Humility for me is living with J.O.Y.–focus first on Jesus; second on others; and only third on yourself. Thank you for this reminder.
J.O.Y. – Jesus… Others… Yourself – Great one, I hadn’t heard that before!! Thank you Carol !!
A wise teacher once told me, “If you think you are humble… you’re not.”
Think about it! A person with true humility would never claim to be humble.
A wise teacher indeed, thank you Sensei Roth 🙂
Chris, your post reminds me of a song….”Oh Lord it’s hard to be humble when you’re perfect in every way, I cain’t wait to look in the mirror ’cause I get better lookin’ each day, to know me is to love me, I must be a hell of a man, oh Lord it’s hard to be humble, I’m doin’ the best that I can.”
LOL, sorry, I couldn’t resist.
I very much like your post; I try to remind myself to have a servant’s heart, that I am truly no better than anyone else walking the plant, no matter their circumstances, color of their skin, religion, etc.
