My own personal agenda is pretty tiny in comparison to the big picture of humanity.
Just think about it… if I am a player in God’s kingdom, His agenda is way more important than mine. I may have many goals and dreams, and I may also need to consciously strive to keep my agenda in tune with His. I need to keep this in mind every day, and throughout the day as I make decisions and walk through life.
When I think of the word “Loyalty” it conjures up images of faithfulness and commitment. I believe it’s more an action than a feeling.
Through our loyalties we build a number of other virtues…
trust…
perseverance…
and character…
just to name a few.
Our loyalties in life run far and wide… we have loyalties to friends, family, spouses, churches, employers, coffee shops… the list goes on and on…
so when I put all of these various loyalties together what does it all mean?
and where do my loyalties stand in comparison to…
each other…
my own personal agenda…
and, most importantly, to God’s agenda?
That’s a pretty big thought to ponder…
so when I think about it more and more I keep coming back to the 4 circles and the great beyond. This seems to line up pretty well with where I believe our loyalties should be. Most importantly…
I need to put my own personal agenda behind that of the bigger picture…
I need to put my own personal agenda behind God’s agenda.
Jesus said “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness…” Matthew 6:33
I need to keep this thought in my mind all day, everyday and stick with it like super glue.
How do you define loyalty? Can you see your own personal agenda falling in line with God’s?
Yep, setting aside my agenda and signing up to be used by God for His plan is always a good idea and often hard to do. It’s much easier to ask God to “bless my plans” and think that’s all I need to do. Uh, not! Thanks for the reminder, Chris.
