They’re the most fun to read and the hardest to write. Ever try creating complex characters, story arc, conflict and resolution and theme in 500 words or less with enough scenes for 12-26 separate and unique illustrations? And then leaving half the story to be told by the illustrator?

Picture books especially are such an art and when they’re done well, such a pleasure!
