Nehemiah was a man of action. He was outstanding at organizing others and at inspiration. He held a prominent position in the government of Persia. However, that position wasn’t his calling. This idea of “calling” is key in our society today and I believe is very important in how we will be remembered in the history of Christianity. The story of Nehemiah is as relevant today as it was at the time it was written. How do we find our calling? Calling is found through a relationship with the Holy Spirit, and it begins with self-awareness (Click To Tweet). So I saw the movie Act of Valor this weekend. I really liked it.

Near the end of the movie an inspiring quotation was voiced…

it comes from Tecumseh, a Native American warrior and hero…

“So live your life so the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their views, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide. Always give a word or sign of salute when meeting or passing a stranger if in a lonely place. Show respect to all people, but grovel to none. When you arise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life and strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. When I heard it I had to read it…
