A keeper in life

You Never Know When A “Keeper” Will Happen

A keeper in life

Babies first steps

A “Keeper” – those moments in life that we cherish. Seeing your daughter take her first steps. An extra special holiday. It may even be an event from your childhood, like the first time you rode your bicycle without training wheels.

We can’t plan these events. They just happen when we are experiencing life.

Hopefully your wedding day and graduation are keepers too. Sure, they are planned events that rock. Beyond these moments you never know when a keeper will occur.

The key to experiencing the “keepers” in this world is to live life to the fullest. (Click To Tweet)

And to always be thankful.

What separates us most from these experiences?

Well, I try to keep busy. However, I know there is a point where I am too overloaded. It’s an evil lure. A keeper might happen when we’re hustling. However, often times were emotionally unavailable then. We’re disconnected from our friends and family. During these times the potential for memories pass us by.

“Cherish the fabulous, the fantastic, the beautiful, the graceful, the moments of abandon, laughter, quirkiness. Cherish the tiny incredible details, the gigantic & varied display, and the infinite depths – of life.” Jay Woodman

Now there’s perspective. From this mindset, we have much to be thankful for.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
and into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
and His truth endures to all generations. Psalm 100:4-5

Remain available with an eye open for the keepers in life and make yourself accessible to them. You may be surprised at how many you find!

The #1 Reason To Be Thankful Today…

The only real tree on the lot.

… and so we’re entering the season of giving. The season of Hope. The season of the Christmas tradition. Yep, it “officially” begins today. Black Friday. Time to get the tree up. Christmas parties and end of the year celebrations. I love this time of year, for all of the good memories, family traditions and warm thoughts.

Remember the Prayer of Saint Francis?

#52: Thankful It’s A Keeper

Tags :

All I can say is wow, what a year!

Everyone writes inspiration this time of year, a time of reflection. I try to come up with inspiration once a week.

As I thought about what inspiration to write this week I came up with just one thought:

Thankful.

Today I’m thankful for my readers. The people who stop by with encouragement and leave thoughtful comments. The people who stop by and just read, finding something that helps change their day in a positive way. The people who are genuinely helpful and who share a glowing thank you. The people who give a warm smile at church, on the street, at the gym, or wherever else we happen to meet.

Something inspirational for this week?

How about simply two words:

Thank. You.

I appreciate your continued support of my writing.

Or maybe in just one word…

Thankful.

Today I’m thankful. I’m thankful for #52. Let’s make #52 a keeper… filled with peace, joy, hope and love.

“Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.

For the Lord is the great God,
the great King above all gods.
In his hand are the depths of the earth,
and the mountain peaks belong to him.
The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.

Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;
for he is our God
and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care.” Psalm 95:1-7

What do you have to be thankful for today?
