“It Happened Again”

Ok, so I saw Hangover II. I personally thought it was kind of lame. The first one was way funnier. I felt they could have been more creative in coming up with a new plot.

You may remember I used Bradley Cooper(‘s pic) in my post How God’s Using My Booty To Keep My Ego In Check

in case you were wondering I like Cooper…

Anderson Cooper is good with me too…

we had a classmate in high school whose name was Cooper…

first name…

anyway, back to this post…

“It Happened Again” …

that’s THE  line from The Hangover II…

I mean, come on… how could it happen again? The Wolfpack REALLY gets slipped the mickey by Zach Galifianakis’ character Alan??? … twice???

sounds a little unbelievable to me…

but maybe that’s just the point.

And then I think about my personal experiences…

and I’m embarrassed to admit…

I’ve made some repeat mistakes in my life.

I really need to tighten up on this one…

get really sticky with Jesus about it…

steer clear of My Greatest Sin (that would be doing something foolish) …

learn from my mistakes…

and keep moving in the incredibly obvious right direction…

you know, the one where He is leading me!

“As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly.” Proverbs 26:11

I know, that Bible verse is kind of graphic…

personally, it leaves me a little nauseous…

but I do like dogs!

maybe there’s a message here too…

maybe we need graphic to emphasize avoiding the pitfall of “It Happened Again” …

I think I’m getting it now…

breathing deeply…

“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.” Psalm 37:3

have you seen the movie “Dances With Wolves” ? …

different post…

Is there any place in your life that you need to tighten up, to help you steer clear of “It Happened Again?”

Time to Start a Fire

I’m stuck on Peace, Love and …

Psalm 133:1 “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in UNITY!”

I found this one recently and it really grabbed hold of me with a burning desire to write today about a warm, comforting fire, a good fire, like the one that Moses found in the burning bush, burning without consuming… from which appeared to Moses the Angel of the Lord. This fire burned with the eternal light of life. A light that would not go out!

Rick Warren, the renowned author of “The Purpose Driven Life” and “The Purpose Driven Church” says “Nothing on earth is more valuable to God than his church. You are commissioned by Jesus Christ to do everything possible to preserve the unity, protect the fellowship, and promote the harmony in your church family and among all believers.”

I believe at the very heart of this fire of life that shines brightly toward unity are two key concepts:

  • That we are each in a continuously growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • And, another long-favorite passage… “Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you must also do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with the grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:12-17

Indeed, whatever we do, do it from the heart, growing in the love of Christ and for each other, and in the name of the Lord. Now that’s a fire to be a part of!!

What do you think about where we are in unity as Christians?

Puppy Love

You just knew I’d still be oh so stuck on that 4-letter word… L-O-V-E… and not just as a noun but an action verb, shouting it from the treetops, ALFRESCO, like blowing a vuvuzela that can be heard round the world. All for the love of the one and only Him-ness. The love of our youth! I’m in a serious bromance with Jesus. Go ahead, sniff my ear and you’ll find a prayful pup wagging his tail.

Now, while preserving that puppy love thought read Psalm 103, about God’s great love for us:

“God forgives all our sins,

Heals all our diseases,

Redeems our life from the pit,

And crowns us with love and compassion,

He satisfies our desires with good things,

So that our youth is renewed like eagles…”

The psalmist David’s list continues…

And tells us what God is really like…

Really like a puppy in love…

Breathing that puppy breath all over us!!!

Praise the Lord, and Happy Monday.

A Quite Simple Happy Monday

This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

Living every day in exactly the same way…

The Full Moon

Heartwarming memories last forever. This one blows my mind. The Full Moon brings back some of the most treasured memories that I have. Somehow it just keeps coming up… in photographs where it wasn’t noticed until after-the-fact and unrelated conversations that send my mind back to The Full Moon.

Most of us have something in life that brings us back to a place and time we were before. I believe that God put these things around us for a reason.

His true love endures forever… “it will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky.” Psalm 89:37.

Is there a “Full Moon” in your life too?
