Salvation… how do we know for sure we are saved? Some denominations over simplify this topic. Others don’t seem to make answering it a priority. “Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart” takes us on a journey through the Bible investigating this topic. Greear assures us that God wants us to know the answer, helps us understand the critical elements of believe and repent, how we CAN loose our salvation, and answers many questions about how repentance is belief in action. A Theologian and Pastor, Greear’s work is a treasure to anyone truly interested in Christianity and, most importantly, the salvation we find through Jesus.

Book Review: Deep & Wide by Andy Stanley

OK, I like the church so it’s probably a no brainer that I’m going to like the book, right? Well, I actually LOVE both! This is Andy at his finest. When you read this book you feel like you know him personally. Why? Well, in many ways, this book is about Andy… but in many ways, one of the best things you’ll find out about Andy through this book is that his church isn’t really all about him. Andy is an amazing and gifted communicator. Most everyone will agree with that statement. However, one of the most resounding facts revealed in this book is that North Point Community Church and the daughter churches, and their combined influence that spans the globe, are more about a collection of amazing talent that all contribute as a team. The book shares in detail how the North Point strategy to preaching and programming is accomplished.

Book Review: Wisdom Meets Passion by Dan Miller and Jared Angaza

“There are two great days in our lives – the day we are born and the day we discover why.” William Barclay.

OK, so to say that I’m somewhat of a passionate person may be an understatement. So I picked up this book thinking that it may just be some sort of justification for pursuing my passions. True. “Wisdom Meets Passion” also showed me how to live fully and pursue them wisely.

The authors hit on the critical characteristics for becoming successful: Passion, determination, talent, self-discipline and faith. Note that passion leads the list… if you’re not going to do it with fervor, why do it at all? This book shows one how to live a life filled with meaning, joy and purpose. It nails down the distinction of doing what really matters… with authenticity.

“The glory of God is man fully alive” Saint Irenaeus

If you feel like you’re living your life that way, you’ll breeze through this book. It will be affirmation of your direction, and your purpose. If you aren’t quite sure, I would encourage you to pick this one up, you won’t regret it. It will help you identify life goals, and it will help you develop a plan to attaining them.

What are your passions? Do you feel like you’re pursuing them now?
