Several weeks ago I was just days away from sending out my first book proposal. I was pretty happy with what I had put together, and I thought it was ready. Then, suddenly, everything changed. It seems my book project, The Wellspring Of Life, was incomplete. What? I thought I had nailed it down…. but, in reality, it was missing the most important chapter. I didn’t actually have to write the whole chapter to submit the book proposal… but what I learned was way more important than the book project… and just as important as the verse it is based on.

“Above all else, guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life” Proverbs 4:23.

Guard… protect… defend… shield…  look out for… that’s really important…

… but if my heart is going to be “the wellspring of life” … something equally important has to happen… I have to love… and trust.

A new twist on love and trust…

The jist of this is that I broke one of my own principles that has become dogma… The 4 Circles And The Great Beyond… it guards… protects… defends… it’s a system that 1 can use to establish barriers around the heart… it will help establish boundaries… I’m down with that part.

The twist? Once I have the safe boundaries I need to trust God to take care of the rest.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Yep, our Heavenly Father showed me the way… the experience rekindled a fresh perspective for me… and the last chapter…

It’s a new twist… to cherish… cultivate… embrace… nourish… treasure… value… adore… honor… treasure… (did I mention treasure?) and otherwise just LOVE…

Guarding… The 4 Circles… and then Trust in God to take care of the rest. A wise strategy.

Are you generally a trusting person by nature? Do you ever find it difficult to trust God’s lead?
